Free interactive English course

Hello, my dear students:

I found an interesting website to learn and practise English, it is a complete and organised English course (different units with vocabulary, dialogues, activities, games…) which you may find useful. It is quite basic, but you can reinforce vocabulary, listening and pronunciation.
Have a look, this is the link:

Week 6

Hello classmates of the English course. Today is my turn, I am writing my complete experiences about   last week. We began on Tuesday correcting the weekend’s homework We answered different questions about the movie “American Beauty “ and we put a different verbs in  the past simple and past continuous  in two texts about old films too. All these things are good because it makes us review concepts which were almost forgotten. Finally we made a listening about the work in different countries of Europe. After that, we had to speak in pairs about if it is better to have a University degree for getting a good job. We had different opinions in our group.

On Thursday we had to correct two emails with mistakes and differentiate between ‘since’ and ‘for’. The listening about a new job coolhunter, was difficult, but I think that it is good for us to learn. For me the best thing today was the speaking. Sandra, the teacher, put on the blackboard a few strange professions which weren’t very usual in life, and which most people don’t like. We only accept lighthouse keeper (Tony and me agreed because we like to be alone and far from the people), the others were tarot and card reader and wine tester (they were very interesting). The activity was very funny.

Now I am going to explain what I think about this consolidation course. I think that it’s good because everyone tries to learn more. Other classmates have already said that it is the best way to learn a language, but this is difficult for me. There are some listenings in which we don’t understand the voices well, because the people speak very fast and the pronunciation doesn’t seem easy. In the future I will have to strive to do it better. I believe that we should have more time in the speaking, and we could change the parter too or   speak about one theme and Sandra could correct us. That is only my opinion, in general is very good.

I wish to learn a little more, but it depends on each one of us. It will be necessary to carry on and finally everybody will know more English.

Week 5

Hello, hello my friends, here is Toni…..The man who goes against the mainstream.

Firstly, I have to say that it’s very difficult to summarize in a few words about everything that we do for an hour and a half of class, but I’m going to try. If somebody gets bored reading this, excuse me please, because I’m an ignorant in the English language. I hope not to be very annoying.

I think this year the classes are more interesting than those of last year because in this course we are practising more and working hard to understand and speak English, without much grammar.

Now, I’m going to describe the 5th week of our new course.

On Tuesday, first we finished correcting the exercises about the Simple Past and the Past Continuous and, immediately afterwards, Sandra put a listening on “living in cities” and we had to say if the statements were true or false. Most of us didn’t understand very much but later we spoke in pairs about this theme. One of us defended the advantages of living in the countryside and the other defended living in the city. For example:

– The countryside is less stressful and healthier than the city and quieter too.

– On the other hand, in the city there are more job opportunities, a diverse cultural offer and a lot of services.

The next class was on Thursday and we did a short introduction to correct the homework, “the cities’ vocabulary”. When we finished it, we did a listening about at the recruitment agency and this time we could understand a little more than the last day but not too much. Secondly, we had a job interview with a classmate, and later with another and we asked each other the characteristics that we had to have to obtain the job that we were offered, after that, each one chose the best candidate for the job that Sandra had distributed us. I chose Jose Maria for a cook and I got a job as a football coach. I talked with Inma too, but I didn’t convince her to be a good vet.

At the end of class, Sandra gave us some exercises as homework for the weekend.

That’s all dear friends.

I believe that my classmates are very kind and nice with me because they put up with my extravagancies. That you are lucky.

See you!

Week 4

First of all, I’m going to say who I am. My name is Isabel, a pupil of the Consolidation English Course, evidently.I sit down in classroom next to Inma, behind Toni and José María.

I ‘m going to write about the 4th week of this Course.

The first class of this last week was on Tuesday. When I arrived, the class had just begun, and they were doing a listening about the weather forecast. Then we talked in pairs about meteorologist and weather predictions. We tried to ask and to answer some questions about it, for example:

Do you trust the weather forecast?

Do you ever check it before going on a trip?…..

During this week we have reviewed the Simple Past and the Past Continous, and Sandra gave us a photocopy with exercises to do at home.

In the second and last class of this week, first of all, we corrected these exercises, and then we did a listening from the workbook about the “home town”. Then , while we were talking in pairs about it, Sandra called someone to talk to her about everyday topics.

At the end of this class we did a phonetic exercise. We had to verify some words that were written in their phonetic transcription.

And that’s all for this week!

I think, as most of my classmates, that the most difficult for us are the listenings.

I hope to improve them during the course!
